"I want to help you decide that, by the power of God, you will not be ordinary"

Instead of plotting the demise of the traditional family, as some politicians and religious leaders would have you believe, gay people mow their lawns and watch ‘American Idol’ and video their children’s concerts and have the same hopes and dreams that their straight counterparts do.

Its so funny how someone who was supposed to be my best friend. Someone who was my sister in Christ doesn’t even have time for me anymore. And its not like I haven’t tried … Why do I even bother? Guess my life just isn’t important enough for you anymore. Sorry I wasted my time.

Sad when my “Godly” friends fuck me over more than the supposed heathens.

When most of us give advice, it is based on a sincere desire to pass along our ‘wisdom’ which was usually earned at the wrong end of a hard lesson. We share our advice with people we love and respect and wish to protect. I wish I had taken almost all of the advice my parents gave me during my teenage years.

Sometimes God raps gently at the door, but we don’t know it’s Him, so we ignore the disturbance. He whispers through the door, but His words fall on deaf ears.
A little later, He knocks again, a little louder.
“Go away— I’m busy,” we can be heard saying as we tend to our usual routine.
The knocks keep coming, but the door is never opened. His voice grows louder, but we run from the message.
He beats on the door even harder and more frequently. His presence is known, but we still turn our heads and ignore Him standing in the portal to our room. “Not now— I have other things and more important to tend to. Stop bothering me.”
God doesn’t leave, He is still watching, caring, loving. He doesn’t intrude because He knows it’s not time. The whole while, He wants to make sure we know He is there, but gives us time to recognize Him and realize that the knock is real and He is there… Waiting. He knows timing is everything.
The knocks increase and are not only known— they are felt, but still, we turn away.

Then, there is silence.

“Where did He go?” We wonder.
All is still.
Finally as sure as the candle lights the dark, the door is kicked open and there is no running from His presence, His power, His grace. He grabs our heart and fills it with His love for us, igniting the fire in our souls that can never be extinguished. We become one with God.
God knows when we are ready.
Timing is everything.

It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what’s changed is you.

In the end, there is nothing under the sun that brings lasting fulfillment. You have to look beyond the sun. The groove in our hearts cannot be filled with the temporal. It demands eternity. Therefore, our very searching for more and more, for bigger and bigger, and for better and better, is our sense that something is off, amiss, deformed, and broken. In the same sense that death, pain, and suffering tell us that something in the world is broken, our insatiable searching tells us that something bigger than the earth itself is missing from our soul.

I believe that God’s grace is still very abundant for me even when things are difficult, even when solutions seem impossible, and even when I am at my lowest and most hopeless state. I know that Jesus will come through for me. I know He will intervene because He loves me, and that’s more than enough for Him.
